Hi. I lisped until the first grade, which I worked though with doing flashcards with my parents, , but after I got over that I started stuttering. I'm 23, and I've the severity is less now, but it's still there hiding, occasionally coming out. I haven't tried speech therapy or read any books, so I don't know which styles or books are the best, that's why I'm here. I had a teacher awhile ago that said things like "stop talking to me, you sound stupid", but it just made me feel pity for her for having to live with that personality.
Yesterday I stuttered some at a party, and some guy I just met turned into a raving asshole after a few drinks and making fun and having a laugh at my expense turned into vicious attacks and a fist fight, even though I was polite and maintained emotional control and I was mature enough not to make make attacks at his emotional instability, though it was a temptation.
