Hello, my name is Sam and I am 13 years old from Auckland New Zealand, stuttering has been a problem for me for most of those years, yet speech therapy doesnt help for me. I know quite alot about stuttering, considering I spend most of my time on the Internet, as I find it easyer to talk to people here than in reall life. I stutter with different people, at different times, one time of year I begin to celebrate in my head as I have though I have lost the problem, and the next, here I am stuttering - I find it interesting that I am the only stutterer I know in my school - all of my schools that I have attended.
I also learn German, however I don't stutter in german. I find it frustrating how people dont know what's going on when I stammer on words, people the same age as me dont usually know what the heck is wrong with me, only my friends do.
I am quite happy here on the internet doing stuff on the internet, it makes up for all the lost time socializing I have at school, but I know that its unfair that I have this speaking disorder, and I know there is help out there for all the issues and problems that stuttering brings.
I joined this forum for advice, and its nice to know the im not alone, although it seems like it.
I just dont want to be someone that stays with their parents all their life and is afraid to face the reall world.
Anyway, its nice to be here,
Sam.
