Hey Guys, I'm Ryan. I'm 27 and been stuttering since I can remember. It definitely has it's ups and downs. I had a stint in speech therapy early in grade school, to the point where by sixth grade I was deemed almost totally fluent. Then "it" slowly crept back with avengence. I started avoiding social situations, presentations and being called on by not talking at all or total avoidance...I think I would get into serious relationships with girls to isolate myself further, communicating only with them. Somehow, with a handful of good friends, I got through high school and graduated college with a bachelor's in criminology. I relaized the a job in law enforcement isn't the best thing for a stutterer. Now I am in culinary school working to be a chef. I think the best advice is don't let it control you, and honestly, who cares what people think. My father stuttered, went through therapy, actually stuttered worse, but realized if you don't like me for who I am, then F@*k off!! That's my ultimate goal, because that's half the battle....
