Im trying to think of a word that rhymes with 'risky' and 'frisky', i need help, its a matter of life or death, LIFE OR DEATH:eek:.
On a more serious note i think u have found a hole in the online dating market adam. U could make a dating site for stutters yourself, and watch the millions roll in:D.

LOL, Adam is feeling frisky and risky, but he shouldn't be picky. Hey Adam would you put that in your profile, to say your a person who stutters?????
If they have a dating site for half Vulcans, i'll sign up or for ugly people who stutter. :D

Hey Adam would you put that in your profile, to say your a person who stutters?????
I think I already mentioned that I stutter in my profile when I first joined. Although, that's not neccesary, is it?? Sort of redundant!! Why would we put "I stutter" in my profile when it's very obvious that we all do stutter on the forum!!??
If you mean online dating sites, I would be pretty afraid to put "I stutter" in my profile, because that might turn chicks off! And I might not get many responses if chicks know I stutter, as compared to them not knowing I stutter!

don't think you have really thought this one through, the stuttering population is 1% of the world, with say 4 out of 5 of them being male! so your site would be great for the females but for us lads were clutching straws.
Anyways think if you did find the perfect girl that stutters is that all you wan't to have in common!
I say don't limit yourself pal, theres plenty of fish in the sea why only go for the rare breed, when theres lots of others just as tasty.

I took it opon myslf to learn sign language so I could better comunicate with those guys, and I met a couple of nice girls at the night classes I took
didnt go anywhere with thoes two, but I'm still good friends with one of those girls

If they don't contact you because you stutter, forget them...seriously.
I think an online dating site for stutterers would be a good idea.
Although, I think love can be found anywhere with anyone, not just others who stutter. :)

haha i was just thinking that when i read the original post. i've never even met a girl who stutters, but i am thinking there would be less stuttering than usual for each person because they'd feel comfortable knowing the other person does the same thing. not sure though, never tried it :D

You know, I don't think I have ever met a girl that stutters either. I wonder if it is more common in men then women. Anyway, I think there may be a nice market for something like that.

If you can admit that you stutter on a dating site for stutterers, why can't you on a 'mainstream' dating site?
Sure it would turn some chicks off, but heck, what have you got to lose? That would be a good filter to sift out those you wouldn't get along with anyway. If you don't admit your stutter, do you think they'll never find out? Well they may not until you meet them in real life, which is your goal in the end, isn't it?
Out of all the single lines you could possibly put in your profile, "I stutter" is probably the one that would give you the best results in terms of quality, not numbers. And who cares about numbers, you'll looking for *one* chick.
I think a dating site for stutterers would be nice but do we really need one?

About a 4:1 ratio men to women stutterers :)

I agree. If you're looking for one person to have a serious relationship with, then it doesn't even matter if most women are turned off by "I stutter" being in your profile. In fact, it's probably a good thing, since it would weed out women who you wouldn't want to meet anyway.

"The things that could happen IF one male stutterer and female stutterer hit it off and in person." Sometimes that IF is a pretty big if.
Without a doubt most of us desire companionship, romance, and love in our lives. However I think one should be aware that narrowing the "love connection" to only stutterers is somewhat limiting.
If two stutterers can find love and romance, that's great and I'm all for that, but I do feel that the odds of finding a very, very, very, very compatible stuttering mate are not particularly good. Even if you don't stutter, companionship is hard to find.
I'm an older guy, so I've interacted with quite a few stutterers. What's quite apparent when we meet other stutterers, is that we all stutter differently. That's pretty obvious. What's also obvious, is that most of us are very different people. Yes, we all stutter but sometimes that's all we have in common. I've been there. I've been there many times.
When I was in college, I interacted with quite a few other stutterers. This was a very large university with a large, well-respected speech pathology department. At that early age, I was quite idealistic, " Hey, you stutter. I stutter, too. Wow! Instant friendship!" Sad to say, things didn't quite work out that way. In fact, I often found out I had less in common with my so-called stuttering acquaintances than with my non-stuttering acquaintances.
Should stutterers date other stutterers? Sure! Should stutterers expect a more perfect, ideal mate? No!
There's lots of fish in the sea, and to only look for one type of fish is limiting.

I agree with you longwindingroad that focusing on just on "segment" of the ocean is definitely limiting but having a spot within all those singles sites online (http://stout.hampshire.edu/~iwf06/single-sites.html) for stutterers would be nice. That doesn't mean that I would expect to find someone right away but it's always nice to meet someone who totally understands what you and me and everybody on this board is going through. :)

A couple of months ago I was looking at online dating Web sites for the disabled. I was surprised at the number of Web sites. It seems rather strange that there isn't an online dating site for stutterers.
I think finding love on regular dating sites is probably more dificult, because so many people have such high expectations. People specify so many limiting attributes of their potential mate: age, weight, a certain body fat percentge, successful, hair color, has life figured out and knows exactly what he/she wants, and NO BAGGAGE.
How many people have life figured out? How many people have NO BAGGAGE? I carry around several suitcases of substitute words alone.
If there are roses on these online dating sights, you have go through so many weeds to find the rose.
Just found this site, has all countries mateys.
just sharing, some of u guys (and Gals) may be neighbours, good for friendships at the very least.
see how bored i am, i am prowling this forum!!!
Go get 'em Adam

Just found this site.
http://www.friendshipcenter.com/webdate_3/index.php?page=index
I know this site. It's been around for years. I used to be a member of it for a little while and it's where I met a good friend of mine, Lisa. She stuttered too and eventually I met her in person at a Friends' Convention (http://www.friendswhostutter.org/) in NYC a few years back. We've been friends since we started chatting, about 6 or 7 years ago now I think. I didn't persue her b/c we were too different, but mostly b/c we live 1300 miles away from each other
But, a good way to meet other stutterers, male or female, is to start attending conventions. There is NSA (http://www.nsastutter.org/) (National Stuttering Association) and 'Friends Who Stutter' (which I posted above).
Also found this document (http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/kuster/isad08brochure.pdf). About International Stuttering Day.
Any man stuttering , looking for a date ,i overcome stuttering and i can best date an adult who stutters .
male above 40 years kindly contact me
