Hey y'all!:) My name is Amanda and I am (almost) 22 years old. I am currently a sophomore majoring in English at Louisiana State University in Shreveport.

I have stuttered basically my whole life. Yes, people have made fun of me because of my speech impediment. It's gotten to the point though where I just brush off the criticism and try to ignore what people say. I shouldn't care what those jerks have to say, the only opinions that really matter to me are those of my family and friends.

Some of my favorite hobbies include reading, playing video games, watching movies, listening to music, etc.

I am a huge fan of the TV show South Park.

I look forward to getting to know and talking to each one of you.:) If you have a question about me that you would like to know, don't hesitate to ask.

Hey amanda, welcome to the forum.

Have to agree south park is quality, one of my favourite shows. Have u watched the episode when russell crowe goes round the world having fights with everyone with his sidekick tugger. The world of warcraft episode is a classic as well.

Hey guys!:) Thanks for welcoming me to the forum and also thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday.

timitao: My type of stuttering is called "blocking" and it's where I have problems getting the first part of a word out. I have had speech therapy the whole time I was in elementary through high school. It helped a little, but not much. I've also looked into the SpeechEasy device but was informed that it would not help my type of stuttering.

Marrow: Yep, I love both of those episodes, especially the WoW one. Butters is so funny in that episode:

Butters: I don't play World of Warcraft.
Cartman: Butters, you said you were on your computer all the time!
Butters: Yeah, but I'm playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
Cartman: Butters, go buy World of Warcraft, install it on your computer, and join the online sensation before we all murder you.

Standingtall: Thank you for the birthday serenade, I'm flattered.:)

Hey Amanda!

That is exactly my type of stuttering! I just found this forum and have never talked/chatted with anyone that has my stuttering-problem before. I have met three other two other guys at my age and one older man at the age of 50+ that stutters. But all of them have that stuttering where as they gets locked on a sertain word like "r-r-r-rain" etc. And they can all speak faster and easier than me, when it comes to me and my blocking which makes me look almost "dumb" when I do not answer even tough I am trying to. :(

I have actually tried out that SpeechEasy device, and the cheaper norwegian model aswell. Neither one worked any good with my stuttering, so I do not think it would help you any good either. I think it helps better for people that gets locked up on sertain words, like I described before. :\

Also, welcome to the site Amanda(even though I just registered myself, hehe)! :)
