I work in a bookstore, doing receiving. Basically I get the boxes off the truck, open the up, and enter the stuff we get into the computer, and pack up the overstocks. And I process the special order requests, and do inventory.

Sometimes if it's very busy up front and they're understaffed, I'll have to cover the register for a while. I don't like doing it, but most of the customers are patient if I have to talk to them. It's not something I'd like doing all the time, but I can handle doing it once in a while, and I think it's probably ended up helping me, because it's made me a little more comfortable talking to people I don't know.

I go to school part-time, but I don't know yet what I want to study. Maybe computer science, but I'm not sure.

My job I started in Feb 1999. I work as a Data Entry Clerk for a food distributor. I file lots of invoices for companies we do business with into file cabinets. I type the total of invoices into a computer..basicaly a gopher. I enjoy it. I talk as much or little as I want during my time at work. I guess it does not bother me much! Money is good!

As for classes, have not taken any college courses since the spring semester of 1998. Went to Onondoga College or OCC in Syracuse, NY back in January of 1999. Took non-credit courses for Beginner Algebra, Reading Readiness, English Composition, and a OCC101 which was a class to teach adapting to college life, and how to handle college level work.

I guess that's it! I passed those 4 classes with A's which was alot of hard work!

I quit some of my previous jobs because of stuttering.

I now work as a GIS specialist (geographical info system) in a water utility company.Basically mapping. I input water facilities in our main system, and provide statistical reports to some of our business centers. Sometimes it requires talking to other offices personnels but I can handle that, just sometimes when they ask my name, I can't say it immediately. But what i hate is presenting our project in front of executives. So I just ask my office mate to do the presentation.

At the same time trying to finish college (computer science) which im just defending my thesis away to graduate. And this is my BIG PROBLEM!!

I learned fitting and turning in a ship repair yard. After traveling a bit, I learned building with my father. For the last 35 years I've been self-employed as a building contractor. Sub-contractors like working with me because I help out if something goes wrong, and I pay on time. I've never advertised for work; clients often remain loyal friends. Success has given me a lot of confidence, but the stutter made it a difficult life. After 60 years, freedom from its terror is indescribable.

Im leaving my job as a carer to start an access degree course in speech therapy, training 1 day a week as a speech therapist.

Going to be a while though... but im focused i figure im most equipped to deal with a childs problems because u can't teach things i've learnt through having a stammer.

My vision is one day being able to teach speach therapists about the real affects of stammering, and not treat us as patients but rather friends.
