Hello all,
This is the first time i have ever joined a forum of any kind so this is new to me!
I do stutter and have done so for nearly 16 years. my mother tells me i started at an early age, around 8-9y.old. it feels like b/c of my stuttering, my life has had one big overcast. i tend to, like everyone else, find it difficult to pronounce my name (when ppl ask what my name is now, i just spell it out... as my name is not a typical anglo-american name, it is a bit hard to pronounce anyhow!) i am in my final stage of becoming a fully qualfied doctor and am very excited but at times very nervous. i have hidden for most of medical school in the back of classes or dissapear when rounds begin-the attendings love to not only ask students questions..but drill them =( this last year was verrrry difficult for me and at times have debated whether i have chosen the right field as i will be expected to make presentations during my intern year, besides the obvious explanations i will have to give to patients.
i can hold fairly good conversations when kept to a minimal, but when asked open ended questions, usually asking for explanations or detailed information..well, thats when it all goes downhill guys! i have been in denial about my stuttering for all my life but have finally given in, i can either let it ru(i)n my life, or fight back.
i've loads of questions to ask some of the people here who have a better knowledge about the managment/treatment then myself.
Anyhow, thanx for all your time. and God Bless!
