Greetings everyone. My name is Brent and I happened upon this forum quite recently. I'm 40, and I have stuttered since, well, I can remember. Over the years I've been able to adapt, though I did receive a helping hand with the old Hollins program back in 1982. It was the PFSP with that little box and microphone that monitored your speech intonation and sound formation. It enabled me to at least have a glimmer of fluency. I honestly don't know how, but it did help, whether mentally or physically. Prior to that communicating was not fun. Anyways, after school I became a firefighter/paramedic down here in south Florida and have been for twenty years. Why I chose this profession, I don't know. The job requires enormous amounts of communication, usually in high stress, emergency situations. But, I've lasted this long, so I can't complain too much. I have my bad moments, but thankfully they are few and far between. I hope to get a chance to read the posts and chat with the members here to gain some insight or to give any help that I can. Thank you, Brent
