I don't know about you guys, but I think it would be really beneficial if we all 'spoke' together over the internet in the comfort of our own homes. There's a technology called teamspeak which was originally designed to allow gamers to communicate to other gamers while playing. It's since become a great tall for general discussion over the internet.

If enough people are interested, I can host a teamspeak server. I'll pay for it all. The only thing you guys need to do is join the server (after download the teamspeak client) and make sure you have a microphone.

Not only will this allow us to share our thoughts and experiences on or with stuttering, but also allows us to improve on a stutters in an understanding environment.

What do you all think? Let me know if you need more information on teamspeak. Dob't forget google too by the way.

Tom -

You've presented a very interesting idea.

I'm not acquainted with Teamspeak, in fact I had never heard of it and don't have a microphone.

Could you explain further?

Thanks,
Jim

Basically, teamspeak is an application that runs on Windows XP or Vista (or maybe even earlier). It allows multiple people to connect to a teamspeak server where they can then communicate freely using a microphone and of course speakers (headsets are ideal). You can assign a button which you push and hold to talk, which provides further flexibility, especially for stutterers as they can work on new techniques aloud before pushing the button to talk over the internet.

I really like your idea. I would be very much interested to join your server if you'd be putting it up. I believe it would help us stutterers to be exposed in speaking situations...
