Hi all hope your all doing ok!

Right well just stumbled accross this forum so i thought i would leave a post. Ive had a stutter ever since i can remember. I had the thought of setting up a web site dedicated to helping stutters haha but it seems someone has beat me to it!

Well about me eh. Well despite having a stutter ive had i pretty sucessful life. I suppose im a bit of a closet stutterer. Im fine when im meeting new people and seem to cope well with those kinds of situations but seem to struggle when anyone trys to get close! But thats something im working on and i think im getting better all the time.

I like im sure many of you, had a prettty poor schooling. its not that i couldnt do the work. It was just easyer to not learn the answer. That way when you were asked a question in class you could just shrug your shoulders and look dumb! Bullying was another head ache! So by the time you leave school your confidence is rock bottom! And you kind of feel that your stutter is you and i think it sometimes feels like a comfort zone. It stops you from pushing yourself into difficult situations.

Well i left school feeling like crap! I joined a painting course at the college. I remember the first day i was supposed to start all the "lads" were sat in a massive class room. There was about 20 of us. And the instructor was going up and down the tables asking everyone there name an address! well as YOU ALL KNOW when you can feel your time to speak is getting closer and closer your heart is nearly ripping out of your chest! Well a couple of lads before me i just walked out and went to the toilets. If you could have checked my stress rates at that point i must have been ready to die!

So i quit that and why i dont know joined the army! Why i wanted to put myself through another load of stress and bullying i dont know!

Right im sorry im writing my life storey! needless to say im doing very well and im proof that there is life after stutter! I anyone wants to chat with me and ask me stuff you all can. Im 26 and ive live what i think an awesome life up to now! What ever anyone has said to me or done i thank them! I dont blame them for making my problem worse! Everyone starts this life as a blank slate! like a fresh new hard drive! no one is born with speach problems! You are programed to stutter! SO if you are programed you can format your hard drive and start again! All ive ever expierenced has made me into what i am today and i wouldnt want it any other way! SO THANK EVERYONE THAT HAS EVER TOOK THE PISS HAHA.

If you want to know more about me or to ask me questions you can. I think the main thing is dont look for a miracle cure for your stutter! And dont spend your money on products either! Its all in the mind! Ive got lots of advice to help you all. And hey i wont charge haha.

Right tek care all. look forward to hearing from you soon!

have a good day and haha have a fluent day!

This is why talking to other stutterers is sooooo good!

both your points there are things i think about everyday and have never really talked about. That moment of panic when you realise you are about to ahve to speak and you know you will stutter. The amount of time i have almost cracked under the pressure! and then the fact i never answered questions in class becasue i was too scared to put my hand up cos i knew i would stutter.

You mentioned your proud of the way you are now even tho you do stutter, but if we are products of our upbringins then you are right to be as it will have effected who you are. Afterall i bet there arnt any arrogant, y, annoying stutterers out there because we all have dismissive sensitive personalities or else we wouldnt stutter! Stutterers are obviously better people! :)
