The owner of www.stammeringfree.com has been going around to different stuttering chatrooms and posting using different fake ids. Do not waste your money on this therapy or any other that promises a cure!

I'm very tempted to order it::

Have you tri  :( ed the treatment that the
link takes you to???

How does one know if something works
if it's never been tried??

But then again i don't want to be wasting money,
but then again i'm living in a nightmare--

alll of these things you see are scams, if they worked, then they wouold be offered through your health care provider..
anytime you see some method or earpiece or some other thing, rest assured..its a scam preying on your desire to be normal..

That stammerfree site is hilarious.

I agree with Clete and Heatguy. Though I think a cure not given by health care professionals need not be a scam, it might be a cure found by former stutterers who are not professional enough to go to conferences or to write articles in academic journals.

Anyway, notice the number of posts by those who said they had worked through the cure. They'd only given 1-2 posts, probably pseudo stutterers who joined this forum just to tell you about the "cure"...

Even if the method works... I still frown upon the site. If I found a "cure" for stuttering I'd offer it for free for everyone. I feel information that can help people should be free. Since its a simple HTML file, I think its very greedy for him to charge people for it. $67 to be told a set of rules sounds a bit steep for me. I find it offensive that someone would try to exploit others' weaknesses for personal gain.

Since it's just a HTML file, it can really say anything like "speak slowly" which would keep him out of the grasp of the false advertit law. I remember once someone sold a paper that cled it would tell you how to kill every pesty insect... and it said something like "crush it with a large object"... which worked, so he/she couldn't be punished under false advertit because it actually did kill basically everything.

If it's not false advertising, then it is legal. He's just trying to make a buck or two (well maybe more lol  ). Nothing in our society is truely 100% free.

Just because it's not "free" and you actually have to "pay" for it doesn't mean it's "bogus." How do you guys know that it really is "bogus"? Have any of you actually paid for his product/advice? It does say in the FAQ that you must practice his technique 20 minutes per day for 3 months and then 10 minutes per day afterwards. He says your speech will be fluent if you follow his technique and practice a few minutes daily. Kinda sounds too good to be true, but maybe it isn't.

But.....I'm not a person who would quickly jump and make such a purchase. (1) For me to do something daily (yes, even 10-20 minutes daily), I need some kind of motivation. Just reading that it worked for other people doesn't help. I would need to be sure that it would be of help to me and I wasn't just wasting my time and money. (2) I hate making purchases and then realizing that I wasted my money. It would be nice if there was some kind of "money back guarantee" if you weren't satisfied with it.

If I got some cash laying around, I'll buy his stupid HTML file and host it on my server for all to see. IF it works, I think all stutterer's should be able to find this information. It's illegal, but morally in my mind its the correct thing to do.

I doubt it works but we can find out if i get some cash laying around. I don't have a job so I'll have to put my drug habit aside until I buy this piece of s--t. I dont feel its stealing because he's exploiting those of us with speech impediments for his own gain so I have no respect for him at all.

Another bogus thing going around is "I Conquered My Stutter" written by some idiot.

It's PDF document full of absolute non-sense.

The golden rule of the whole thing which you have to wait for is to "keep your mouth open."

I was stupid enough to purchase it - don't follow my stupity.

I could either spend $60 or so on getting high, or taking a chance of helping myself and others on this forum. When I get the money, I'll post it on this forum. It may work for some, even if its not for me. If it does happen to be a hoax... he may start having some problems with his website O:-)

I know there are at least 2 police officers in this forum, and taking that HTML file from him and posting it in a public place would be called piracy. However, like I said, making money off of others disabilities (I hate to use that word) doesn't strike a chord with me. If it was a written paper or something physical that costs money to produce, then I'd feel bad about posting it. Creating a HTML file didn't cost anything, and putting a carrot on a stick in front of people with disabilities, so to speak, is morally wrong in my book just as stealing.

I've helped countless people with computer problems, electric problems in homes, for people I didn't really know and all I got in return was a feeling that I did good for someone... and that was enough. If I was able to help thousands or millions of people by doing something that doesn't cost anything to make I'd do it without hesisation for free.

Then again, maybe I'm just a dreamer wishing there were more people like me in this world.

I purchased the "I Conquered MY Stutter" thing on
a whim and total desperation..

All it is is usefull information on how to have a positve attitude with our stuttering...

If anyone wants me to post some excerpts from the foolish book itself , Im willing to share some useless advice from it...it's very misleading... and I ordered
it not PDF , but the bound book version sent by regular mail for $48....

Yes as with everyone on the board stuttering info should not have to be so expensive--- they make money off our misery!!!

I feel like flaming this guy for his misleading info..

Should I??

I think he was looking out for our own good... he may have been ripped off in the past. I wouldn't flame him. We're all here to help eachother, and sometimes you make a mistake while trying to do the right thing.

I like the above quote you said...I think people in need of treatment should get free treatment---although we all wish that would happen-- some of us with stuttering are so desperate to find some good
non-misleading help, and alot of us dont have that kind of money to afford the good treatements,
it rips us up inside-- while these fools get
their money from desperate hopefulls...

WE are very hopefull, and alot of us our desperate,
and the sellers of this false stutter info sit snugly back
conning us...they are the scum of the world...

I guess flaming someone when they are trying to
help is bad, but then again I think everyone has a right to express strong dissaproval!!!

OH yeah--- there should be a shareware version of these stuttering treatments.....

Like a demo sample of these therapies for free so people know what they are going to be puchasing....

Video games have demo periods -- trials-- stuttering therapies should to....

Offer a small portion of each chapter from "I Conquered My Stutter" for free!!

Offer a small portion of each chapter from "I Conquered My Stutter" for free!!That's a really great idea! It would be nice if you could actually see a sample of what you were purchasing.

It would also be nice if maybe they had money back guarantees if it didn't work out for you or you didn't like it.

There was some on her promoting this crap a while back.

Anytime you hear someone say "I stuttered real bad, then read this book now I'm much more fluent."

It's my own fault for buying into this bullshit.

That's SPAM if you ask me!!!
And of course - I was lured into ordering that book--
it's nothing but fluff!!!

I bet that person is still stuttering and made a book
based on her personal self beliefs on it...

And is now selling it under a very misleading title
called "I Conquered My Stutter"..

It's the title that cons us into buying the book--
and she sits back gaining money from our desperation..

A conning book from a con-artist...!!!

Anyone besides me heard of Don Lapre??
He's another con-artist who robs our money
with classified ads......

Katie74 robs us our hope and help and money
for something we desperately hate to live with every day...

Hope Katie74 got banned..
