i was watching an advertit/preview of some upcoming mini-series or whatever and it was about some serial killer. somewhere during the preview, they showed a clip of one of the actors in the show that i guess is supposed to be playing a profiler for the FBI or police, and he said " the serial killer would typically speak with a severe stutter".
this really angered me. its bad enough that the 99% of the population doesn't have to deal with this problem like we do, but now they're making it worse by associating our "problem" with a serial killer. anyone else see a real problem with this?? society already doesn't understand what stuttering/stammering is and now they've made it worse by making it look like stutterers are crazy or otherwise have some serious problem.

I agree with you,
Suttering is very hard to deal with and is even harder when society labels you various offesive names if you have a stuttering problem. Personally I dont care what society thinks about me or my stuttering problem. Stuttering is only an obstacle in my life among many others therefore it will only make me stronger once I overcome it.
IIw03c I can see your point.
But strangely I can see the reasoning too...
If I am anything like typical of stutterers then I would imagine that those who stutter can become so alienated and so insanely enraged that anything might be possible.
All I know is that I have - in the past - been very, very dangerous as a result of stuttering-generated frustration and anger.
Hell: I'm still dangerous, but I have my behaviour under control now.
Thank God:)
How angry were YOU when you saw that program?
How long did you STAY angry?
I understand. But what do we DO about any of this???
We - as a group - are far more likely than others to develop serious psychological problems. A depressing thought, eh?
Asif.

I hope this catches on, i get shit in the street that i don't need and if they thought it was because i was a serial killer lol... well enough said really.
I think there reasoning makes sense, 99% of people who kill someone would feel guilty, bad and nervous. Nervous about being caught, the body being discovered, someone asking them a question about this person. If they were a serial killer the whole thought about the net closing in around you probably would give you a stammer.
