for me stuttering has been both psychological in its effects and the way i think. I'm happy to say that there is indeed light at the end of tunnel and i am baskign in it. Out of nowhere i have a new thirst for life and, despite still having a stutter , i want to live again, stuttering couldn't be less important at the moment lol. For all you guys currently deprressed about stuttering, don't worry cos it won't affect you once you get past the psycological barrier, life is worth living again. Just wanted to say that stuttering can now be used as a humorous inconvienience. Jus wanted to say that to y'all that we'll grow out of it. it's ok.

nick - that's really great --. I would really like hear more about the "out of nowhere" and how you see the "getting past the psychological barrier" that brought you to where you are. So many of us could be very close to that in our lives. I, for one, need any encouragement to "carry on"

I thought I would be grown out of the stutter crap during my teens, but I am still stuck with it.

But I disagree, light stutterers might find it not that bad of a prblem, but more nasty stutters like me for example don't find it fun! Not fun, and extremely unbearable for those who can barely talk!!

It's a trying to talk. I get extremely impatient with myself,as others do too.

But for those who have it easier with stuttering, don't loose it.

Namaste and good luck!

Brilliant post! I have travelled a similar path myself. Yes I still stutter, but I have grown out of the psychological crap that goes with it.

I'm in the same boat as happy.Stuttering completely controls my life.
Also i dont see stuttering as "humorous" or a "minor inconvience" at all.It is a disastrous disorder that completely ruined my life; theres nothing "funny" about that at all.

202, yeah stuttering sucks. But the older I get the more I realize life is not perfect for anyone. We all have our issues whether we stutter or not. I hate to break it to you, but you will most likely hit pitfalls in your life worse then stuttering. When my father died, for instance, it really put stuttering in perspective. Anyway, at some point I decided I should just make the most of my life with the stutter. Suprisingly once I made this decision I struggled much less and my fluency improved. Anyway, I am not saying this is the path for everyone, but it is working for me.
