i was eating pizza with my dad. we had one pizza each. he offered me a peice of his, i said i was fine. then i had two left over. so i sat there trying my hardest to say "do you want a piece". it was the word "do" that made me sit there like in my mind i was just saying "do" over and over. but it would just block when i tryed to say it.

THEN

i did it. no stutter, no block. i used a technique which everyone should try. its a technique used by singers to get as much air into there lungs as possible. i did this, and it came out nice and easy as i slowly breathed out.

this is how you do it.

when you breath in, breathe in as if yopur breathing into your stomach. when u breath in, make ur stomach stick out.

this is basicly half inspired by Asif's post about breathing. which i forgot about till now.

nice one i often find myself having the same problem when i say good night to my parents. What i seem to do is say "So goodnight then" If i was in your situation i would have probably said "so do you want the last piece of pizza."

I know this is technically bad and probably seen as avoidance by speech therapists i find it amazingly helpful at getting myself started. Once i am into a sentance its pretty rare that i get a block mid sentance
