Does anybody want to practise talking to each other using either , or Gtalk?

I want to practise talking to someone in conversation. I thought that maybe having a fellow stutterer on the other side would be easier to start off with and we can help each other out.

I practised reading to myself and since then reading to people became a lot easier. Im struggling to do self conversation :p Since when I talk to people then my speech is still the same and the tension is there.

Im just dont want to practise my speech with a non-stutterer. I know I must do that sometime but don't we do it in everyday life? Try use techniques etc when conversing with non-stutters.

Anyways long story short, any one interested? Possibly even a group chat (talk)?

I don't do that kinda thing...not because of my stutter.

I'd be interested in a group chat...but not a one-on-one kinda thing. Accountability and trust reasons :)

Emily, I don't quite understand what you mean in this context when you say accountability and trust.

The idea that I had was that the few of us interested could all have each other on our chat program. So we can start a little group of online friends who stutter. One could log in at any time and talk/chat to one of the group members who is online. On the other hand we can have set times where the group can meet for group chat.

This way we can network and help each other out. I just think that it will be a good idea to talk to each other. To practice our speech with real people. To share experiences. etc etc. ...or just talk about anything like the news for example. Its just people to talk to who know what its like to stutter. So it wont be awkard as it is when talking to a non sutterer.

Anyways my is pilotc737@hotmail.com and my account is pilotc737. On first chat pls tell me you from this forum.

Im not sure if supports group voice chat cause I have never tried it but I do know that does.

737, Like I said, group chat would be fine, but I don't do the one-on-one chats. I don't do one-on-one chats (with males at least) for two reasons: 1) Accountability- I don't want to be placed in a situation where I can sin. 2) Trust- There are so many crazy stories about people on the internet...I don't want to be apart of any of those crazy stories, lol. :)

Jankren- IMO, it's better to not put myself in a situation where I can sin than risking it and end up hurting myself, hubby, and God. :(

I know people who sin without the aid of the cyberspace. IMO most sins begin in the headspace! :p

3 Internets to you, good sir. Plus I don't see sin as being a problem. I shall recite a chestnut I learned in my youth:

"Coitus is evil, evil is sin.
Sin is forgiven, so put it back in"

I'm sorry if that offends anyone, but I think it's brilliant.

Nate- I'm not saying I'm garunteed (sp) to sin in a one-on-one chat with a male...I just want to avoid the possiblity of sinning...if that makes sense. Also, not all sin starts in the mind.

Fox- I'm a Christian, so I see sin as a very big problem, obviously, lol...but the poem thing is very cute, lol.

Jankren- Yup...but that's no excuse to sin.

Lol, when did this turn into a religious arguement? I was asked why I don't do chatting, and I answered...

We tried out talk yesterday for the first time using . The first talk I had was with Ron. Unfortunately the sound quality was bad. I was advised later that sometimes has a problem with bad quality calls. My callers thereafter could hear me fine.

The second voice chat I had was with Jan. Sorry was time constraint.

I had a lengthy talk with Jonathon late into the night. I think the call went on for an hour. Was nice talking to you all and looking forward to the next call.

I have created a group on my contacts for you guys.

I've never heard of ...do you need any special hardware on your computer to use it, besides a microphone?

Why do people say this? I mean, I am a christian too but so what? Does that mean I don't have to take risks? So Muslims, Jews and so forth should? Besides, I think christians should be risk takers in many things but hey, that is just me. I added some folks on and have never used it before so let's se how it works. My name is zero-cool79.

zerocool- You can do whatever you want, I guess. I just choose to follow Christ as best I can in all I do :)

Well, then say you want to follow Him your way. I just said that saying "I am christian" you involve "all" of us and really that does not make sense because having a conversation on or internet is not a non-christian attitude. That sounds like a freaking sect order or something. Or maybe I should answer Ironically:

Hey, I am christian so I will not argue

Zerocool- I think you missed what I was saying...I'm not against talking live on the internet, I just don't want to do it with males for accountability purposes :)

Hi tb

You only need a mic and earphones (best to use a headset ) and that's it (even a 5 dollars headset will do a good job )

lets you talk in a very good sound quality most of the time
(sometimes even better than phone ) and you can talk to any place in the word for free as much as time as you want

You can download it for free here
