This movie is from Israel and doesn't have subtitles in English but I decided to bring it anyway because of the unique story it tells
(the link is at the end of my post but I'm not sure if it's available outside of the country)
The movie was done by a stutterer who is a film director and it's about his life and the struggle he had and still has as a stutterer
In his family there are 4 brothers that stutter (some severally and others mild stutterers )
and his father his also a stutterer
(so from 6 member of the family 4 are stuttering. only the mother and one child don't stutter )
even the grandson who is 5 years old stutters
This movie was done before his marriage so throughout all the movie he keeps practicing his wedding vows (in order not to stutter in the ceremony )
In the movie he is confronting people from his life about his problem
Talking to his brothers about their mutual problem and how they cope with it.
Confronting his father about his stutter and trying to blame him for the stutter he has
Talking to his mother about the help she tried to give him over the years and her way to deal with his problem.
Confronting friends from school that used to mock at him because of his stutter (even without them knowing that they have heart him )
Confronting his drama teacher who once didn't let him go on stage because of his stutter (the teacher is a mild stutterer himself )
Going to all kind of therapies (conventional and alternatives )
We can even see him participating in a support group forum on-line
He is going to to an old guy who tells him that he used to stutter till he was 50 years old and got cured of it only when he got religious and started to read the bible everyday (the bible should be read slowly in a certain intonation ) and this guy is trying to teach him to read the bible the way it should be read and may heal him this way
There's an interesting scene at the end of the movie when he is asking his wife to be (who's a little bit overweight) a question
and it goes like this ...
Since it seems like our problems are both genetic (which I'm not sure by the way ) what are you most afraid of.... that our children are going to be stutterers or overweight
What would you choose them to be if these are the options
And she's saying , definitely I don't want them to be overweight.
I wouldn't mind them being stutterers but I don't want them to be overweight like me
This was a very weird answer to me because I definitely wouldn't mind being overweight if someone could take the stutter away from me
(and you know overweight is something that you can control if you really want, stuttering on the other hand is beyond your control )
But it shows that certain people don't care too much a bout stuttering and everybody thinks his problem is the most annoying.
Okay, here's the link, if anybody wants to watch.
Hope it'll work well for you guys (It can be played in full screen mode just click the right place in the player )
