Just saw Pan's Labryinth this weekend and there was a disturbing scene where the army catches a rebel who has a stutter. The Captain asks him to count to 3 without stuttering and he will be let go. The poor guy stutters on 3 and gets tortured.

I was in shock

I had no idea this movie was going to be this violent; like the part where the hunter get beaten up by the Captain with a glass bottle...

Anyone else seen this movie?

I saw it.. I thought it was very good. .perhaps a TERRIFIC/GREAT movie--if we view it from the perspective of the whole thing being the little girl's FANTASY-- If we view it as a reality that grownups couldn't see---it has some plotholes/flaws as I recall--but I remember getting the distinct impression by the end--that it was MEANT to be the child's fantasy and way of dealing w/ the war [my wife did not agree]..
The stuttering scenes, as I recall them, seemed particularly realistic--- although-- I know when I used to stutter--and some woudl agree..under that kind of pressure--it woudl've actually gone the opposite way and I'd/you'd have been fluent = D

Good movie. I think it was left ambiguous at the end on purpose...you could interpret it either way, that it was or was not in the child's imagination. As for the stuttering scene, that definitely got to me on a pretty personal level...although I must say, I have seen much more disturbing things in movies before.
