It doesnt work. You might be a bit more fluent reading from a paper, but it doesnt help in speaking situations at all.Just thought I'd let you all know.

When I posted that I hadnt quite grasped how devastating this is to me.For several years now I have been practically depending on the speech easy to work(it takes a long time to get an appointment and i've cancelled several times). What am I supposed to do now? My stuttering is at an all time high.I see no way out of this bottomless pit thats stuttering...... I mise as well go jump off a ing bridge

There is a chance the demo model you tried wasn't adjusted right. True it doesn't work for everybody. Try another provider, I was a really severe stutterer and became almost fluent with the speecheasy. It took a couple of hours to get it adjusted right, maybe the provider isn't properly trained.

true i'm going to birmingham this saturday for the evalution and find out if speech easy is right for me she said be prepaired to be there for three hours because she said that she wants to be sure that it is adjusted exactly where it needs to be. sure i've got high hopes but i know it doesnt work on everybody neither. i hate that because i think everyone of us should have the feeling of talking fluent:D

Sorry 202
I more than anyone felt your desperacy for a device. I know how much you thought it was your last resort. and now you might feel like you have nothing left to fall back on and the severity of yo speech problem will remain.
But it wont, there will be more advances in speech therapy and just like 10 yrs ago many stutterers could never have imagined a device, I'm sure that we cant imagine the next step in science, so hang in there. I dont want to sound like a therapist but maybe in the mean time you can try what they did before the speech easy. Therapy, even if not to help your speech, to help you feel better about it. To help you live your life, really live and enjoy it until that next step in "finding a cure".
I feel for you bruv.

THe message of hope is a valid one. I just want to point out though-- none of the major devices are 'new' technology-- DAF/PAF/metronomes have been around since the 60s or 70s... The last 10 years or so have just seen an increase in companies miniaturizing the technology--and creating body-friendly headsets for them at high, markup prices.

Everyone on this forum knows just how you feel, we have been there. I was a severe stutterer until I was 62. We all learn to play the hand that's dealt us.
