1. While walking down a street many years ago I crossed paths with the famous televangelist/preacher/faith healer, Oral Roberts. He was walking in the opposite direction. I should have asked the famous faith healer, and stutterer, to heal my stuttering.

2. I once stopped at a car dealership to look at cars. I didn't know that a local radio station was having a live broadcast from the car dealership. I wasn't paying attention and a microphone was all too soon in front of my mouth. Little did I know that this was my lucky day to be interviewed by a radio announcer. Real swell! The guy asked me my name and that's about all I remember.

I just shook my head and walked off. I'm sure he thought I was an anti-social jerk. No, just a guy with a severe stutter.

3. A few times I've faked a foreign accent, because I didn't want to stutter.

4. I have thought about applying Preparation H to my vocal chords. It's probably a s****y idea. Forget the magic pill. Forget Pagoclone.

I often need to have jokes explained to me, and I don't get about 90% of the cultural references people make. We didn't watch much TV when I was growing up, so maybe that's why. I end up wikipedia-ing stuff all the time, to figure out what people were talking about.

I don't like sports generally, but I do like watching women's tennis. I've tried to convince my girlfriend that it's not because I like to look at the players, which I think is true.

I don't play any musical instruments.

I enjoy discussing religion and politics online, but I would never argue about either in real life, even if I didn't stutter.

I eat Cap'n Crunch cereal for breakfast every morning.

My girlfriend is teaching me how to knit and I have to admit I somewhat enjoy it.

I read anything I can find about alien abductions. I don't know if I think they really happen or not, but it's interesting anyway.

I don't know how to swim, and I have no desire to learn.

This is my first post here :D Hi all... will introduce myself down the track a bit..... ^^^ this is why I joined up initially....

Nate....... when my oldest son was 4 - 5, he started to show signs of stuttering. When he said 'm-m-m mum, I said, 'no, it's not m-m-mum, it's mum'...
I didn't want him living with it. NO FREAKIN' WAY!! Each time he stuttered, I corrected him. He talks normally today :) I'm sure, back in the day, parents were encouraged NOT to correct them, so as not to bring attention to their 'already shy side'.
Just coz you stutter, doesn't mean they will be a stutterer too, I promise. :D
I think it's a learned thing sometimes......

Just my 2c
Mia
