I mean when you think of saying a sentence, without actually saying it out loud.
I used to block in my mind pretty hard. What worked for me as a distraction was grinding my teeth while thinking, one grind per syllable or two.
The speech therapy program I've been to has helped me a lot with this. When I imagine myself using the new way of speaking, I "think" fluently. I'm also trying to kick the habit of thinking in words and think non-verbally instead, but it's not easy.

I tend to stutter if I am thinking about what I am going to say and I think I will struggle on a certain word. For example if I am going to order food and I am saying to myself the order and I think I am going to struggle on the words strawberry shake, then this plays on my mind in the queue and I end up stuttering on those exact words.

Hope this makes sense.

Nick.

No, but I know which words I will stutter on before I say them.

Anticipating the words you'll stutter on is not the same thing as not being able to "think" those words. Seems like I'm alone... anyway, thanks for your replies :)
