Hello all. My name is John and I have been on this forum for a while but have never posted. I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a mild person who stutters and started stuttering when I was in 8th grade. That is not a very fun time to start stuttering and as i went into high school it got worse and worse. I got through high school barely and then in college things got better. I started to fight back against stuttering and really tried to understand stuttering. I am 22 now and am a speech pathology student at Wichita State University. I am going into the masters program this fall and am excited and nervous about it but I know I will be fine. I am thinking of getting a Phd with an emphasis in fluency. I might just become board recognized in fluency if I do not get my Phd but I know that I want to help people who stutter and also work on my stuttering as well. I hope that I can learn from everyone on this forum to manage my stuttering successfully and it is always fun to get other peoples' perspective on things.

Hi John! Welcome to the forum! There was a time I wanted to be a speech therapist but I had the crazy, crazy notion that a stutterer could never be one. Back then, I never knew there wasn't a cure. Ah, to be young and stupid... :) Those are great aspirations you have and I am sure you will go far! Great stuff!
