I wanted to introduce myself to the group. I have been a stutter all of my life. Somewhat of a closet stutter though. I denied I stuttered pretty much my whole life until I finally found the courage to face my problem head on. Despite my stutter I have usually been a pretty social person....even though social events scare the ens out of me. It's through facing these pressures and not giving in to them that helps me a bit...but I have avoided these situations as well. The first time I opened up to a friend and told him about my problem felt really good. It wasn't like your friends don't know, just because you don't tell them. But to tell them and have a discussion about it is a huge step and was for me as well.

Why I decided to join this site...

The past six or seven months my stutter has gotten drastically worse and couldn't figure out why...I'm still not exactly sure. But I have been working on it everyday with the assistance of a manual written by Dan Watson called "I conquered my stutter". I addition to this I do several other things which over the last month have improved my speech dramatically. I have also been reading a lot of the posts on this site and I thought it would be great to share some ideas and also congratulate all those who have so honestly taken this step to facing their problem head on. Even posting to a website isn't the easiest thing to do...but I feel great and hope to gain and give a lot to all of you. Take care fellow stutterers....let's beat this together
