Therapist and/or support group in Toronto

Hello everybody sorry for disturbing again. I may go to Toronto this summer, to check it out, ill stay longer if i like it. I was wondering if one of you knew a good speech therapist there and/or a good support group. Basically i would like to work on my speech so meeting a good therapist and/or a good support group would be useful.

If you know some elsewhere in Canada do not hesitate.

speech therapy is free in ontario as it is covered by ohip, i'm not sure what the policy is regarding people visiting without canadian citizenship but I'd bet that it's most likely free if you use a government employed speech therapist. There are a lot of government employed speech therapists and you shouldnt have a problem finding one, it is a pretty big city!

Also UofT(university of toronto) has open support groups for stutterers and a toastmasters like group(toastmasters is a club where people practice public speaking).

Thanks Peebee i sent you a private message. I think ill go to England or Ireland his summer as ill be able to apply for a work visa ( to work in Canada) in about two months. still answer my private message please. I'd like the people from england or ireland or UK to tell me about good speech therapists and support groups in England or Ireland. Are they expensive?

Hi peebee - I live in Milton and called a few places today morning for help with my stuttering. According to what I found out, governemnt/ public help is limited only to preschoolers and folks that stutter due to strokes, etc... Any adult stutterer needs to pay private practitioners. Where did you read that OHIP covers this or what free services are you referring to? Please share this information as I would like to avail if it is true. Thanks!!!
