A big hi to everyone
I just came across this forum and found the posts very interesting. As far as I remember, I started suttering when I was 5-6 year old and was mimicking someone who stuttered. It was a playful thing but I somehow got stuck to it. Growing up the problem was not that bad. I used to read aloud in the class without any stutter, would answer questions in the class.. a normal kid and would stutter only when I was hyperactive. Then when I hit puberty my voice cracked for about 2-3 months. This was the time when I had just joined college. I had to introduce myself and the problem just snowballed. With my crackling voice and stutter I somehow managed to do all that but it left a deep scar in my mind and I started to stutter more often. In the classes we would have roll call and for 2 yrs I was not able to say "Yes" aloud in response. Fast forward 15 yrs, I am finishing up my PhD in Biochemisty and about to defend my thesis in a week. I have to give a talk for about 45 min. I am little bit nervous but not that much since I have already given talks like that. I usually do ok in such situations.
So that is me. Anyway keep up the good work on this site
