I find it somewhat helpful to read outloud to myself and apply the techniques I learned in speech therapy. After I did this one night, I went to go talk to my mom and I stuttered less. It actually came out a lot easier. But the next day in school it wasn't so easy. I guess with time it'll become a little more automatic and easier. But this still doesn't take away my anxiety of "awhh man I'm going to stutter. I don't want to say anything." I guess when my speech is totally fluent I won't have that fear anymore. I wish I had started this, this past summer

hahha dude that is what speech therapy is all about..... learn the techniques and keep practicing them.... iam doing the same thing as you..... i have a book with some speech exercises..... a bunch of words and sentences that i read aloud using the techniques and if i didnt practice everyday for at least a half hour id fall apart..... this past summer i slipped a little and i was like shit i gottta get back into it again and iam and i have been speaking great . i think its the only way to improve and overcome stuttering.

Yeah but people have their own way to practice effectively. For some people talking on the phone helps, just having everyday conversations, and some like myself find it best to just read and apply. So if anyone have any trouble using your techniques in another way, try reading

well thats pretty hard to find someone who would actually want to sit down with you and listen to you repeat words slowly and stuff hahha. but yah that would help, it would help me to be more natural.... i need some people to practice wtih on like or something!!!!?????

When practicing your reading aloud you should, eventually, incorporate people to sit in. You might want to start with one person (best friend, g/f or b/f, or even a stranger). Subsequently you should add more and more people as you feel comfortable doing so. There is no time limit. Whenever you feel ready to do so.
You'll see that your fear/apprehension will diminish and even if your fluency does not improve; your self-worth and self-esteem will improve by leaps and bounds.

when i started working i've been dreading the morning praise because i'm afraid that i will be assigned to read the gospel. the first month was the hardest. Now i look forward to it... you are right my fluency hasn't improved dramatically but slowly i feel more comfortable reading the daily gospel, even if it is just the 8 of us in the group.

I've been reading from 45 minutes to 2 hours every day for the last 7 years, both to myself and to a family member in person or on .
I think it does help a little bit.

well i think you have to read aloud using fluency skills. just reading a loud normally without fluency skills wouldnt help.

If you're referring to my post, I do read aloud using fluency skills.
I would block a lot if I read normally, even by myself.
