My problem

Hi I am new here. My problem is not really stuttering as that rarley happens. I just tend to talk very fast to be honest. It happens quite often. Talking to friends, introducing myself, talking to anyone really. I try to slow down but I just can"t. it has only been happening for about a year now and it gets very frustrating. Lets say I have a good joke or something and I can"t get it out. I would love it if anybody could help I would really appreciate.

Well I dont know what to say except that its not unusual for stutterers to talk very fast. I know you dont really stutter as you said, but that's my two cents.

Well when I was in speech therapy in school, the teachers always talked about different types of stuttering. You could have what is called a "cluttering" issue. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluttering. I'm not sure if that is what you have, and I don't really know much about it since I only stutter, but I hope it helps.

When I get excited I talk fast too, but the stuttering usually overpowers it. :D

I have a same problem too. I stutter AND clutter, it's almost like a poem too.. haha. I don't really notice it myself, except when listening my speech from a tape. I guess there is no cure to it, you can only try to concentrate on slowing down and giving time to your speech. Remember to breath deep too.
