Hey everyone!
Last weeks have been really hard, I'm on a new school and I'm having trouble socializing with my new classmates, I've limited myself to speaking only 3 or 4 word sentences.
Also my stutter is getting worse, specially with my close friends, which were a relief to talk to because I almost didn't stutter around them a while back.

I've started speech therapy and went to it already two times, but it's not going to work immediately, and I worry if it's going to work at all on the long run...

I live in Portugal, but next week my sister is taking a week off from work and my mother is taking me and her to spend a week in New York, and it got me thinking.
I'm very interested in trying some new technique to control my stuttering while I'm there, for instance a device or somekind of medication. But I'm specially interested in trying the Speecheasy device.

What I wanted to ask you is if anyone knows any good Doctors or Clinics in New York, who I can get in contact via e-Mail to schedule and appointment.

And also, if it works with me, do you think the device is worth it (not considering how much it costs)? Is it practical?

Thank you very much!

Sounds like you're impatient :) I don't blame you but give it time. Stuttering sucks but it's a challenge you WILL overcome. You will. We all will.

It takes time. Use the time in New York with your family to focus on what you're learning in speech therapy. Not all therapies work for everyone and try not to worry if the one you are using will work for you in the end.

It's hard when we feel socially held back because of our stuttering, in particular in school-- are there any clubs or sports teams you can join? At least you'll be doing something you enjoy and chances are you'll be focusing less on your stutter.
