Practicing your speech or talking to yourself doesn't count.

I guess I do 2-3 words on average.

You are talking about how many words we speak on an average day? And you only say a couple words? That is not nearly enough. You seriously need to get out and talk more; stuttering or not. The more you talk the easier it gets to make a transition to saying more and more words.

Are you kidding? 2-3 words a day? Well, in this case you are at risk of completely losing your voice one day because your vocal chords could die off. If you are a severe stutterer then talking to yourself or to an animal is very important. I always force myself to talk more because especially stutterers need to build up their ability to make conversation.

And oh yeah, I don't know how many words I speak every day. On a bad day I avoid talking so I'd say anywhere between 50 - 150 day. On a good day it could be as high as 500 or more.

That's be interseting, I should count.

Weekdays will be greatly lower than weekends though...since I'm at school on weekdays and don't talk much to people :)

I usually talk quite a lot at work so my word count would be high. I work as a partnership (window cleaning) with my best friend so as I am comfortable around him I don't stutter much. I do sometimes stutter though if I have to talk to customers. When I'm at home either on the weekends or evenings then I will say a lot less.

Do you stutter badly with your family/friends at all Silent or is it mainly just a problem with people you don't know very well?

2-3 words a day like "good morning" and "goodnight"?

I probably speak close to or over 1,000 words a day and that's with work and hanging out with people after work. But I do have my quite days when I would speak half of that number.

I practice a lot, it's just that I don't talk to people.

I went out with friends last weekend and spoke 20 words or so... It was so draining, unsettling and confusing that I quickly lost any desire to speak. Listening feels so much better.

I'm much more fluent with my mother and practice reading to her on .

It's as bad with friends as it is with strangers.

I say whatever comes to mind. I dont restrict my talking to anyone. I wish I could speak fluently, but I can't. I dont let that hinder me. I was ashamed for too many years in my past. I have come to the conclusion that I'm gonna say whatever I want; to whomever I want. Whenever i need to.

I definitely speak over 100 words a day. But unfortunately, I stutter just as bad as if I am talking to friends, so yes I'm quite reticent. But I really do try to socialize.

i speak heaps always have. i played alot of sports and a child i think on a bad day i would speak 1000+ words on a good day alot i mean alot.

why should you not talk just because you stutter freinds don't care an if they do then they aren't freinds. i love talking i have a voice why not use it.

everybody here talks over a thousand words a day easily.... think about it if you have a conversation wtih a friend.... how many words are in a conversation...maybe there are some days when you dont talk to anyone and your word count can be low

Not many, I avoid social events and tend to keep to myself at work.

I've adopted this behavior of only speaking when necessary.

Not only do I stutter, I also speak at a rapid pace. Needless to say that I'm constantly asked to repeat myself.
