I have been on the calcium and magnesium complex for close to a month now. I am still quite relaxed, but have been going through a tough patch lately. Really seem to be struggling with my speech even though i am relaxed. I also gave 5 htp a go for a few days but that seemed to make my stuttering worse.

The only thing that seems to be working for me lately is holding my throat with left my hand when speaking on the phone. It is almost like by holding my hand there i can feel my throat vibrate and it seems to keep things in focus. Pity i cant use tha trick when in other situations.

Anybody have thoughts on this?

hi aneclato30, i know what you mean about the "vocal chord vibration technique", it does seem to help when you can feel the vibration, i think it mainly works by distracting you while you are speaking (you are thinking more about the vibration then you are worrying about your next word). I'm surprised that the 5-htp seemed to worsen your speech, its meant to reduce anxiety, and the increased serotonin is meant to reduce the excess dopamine that us stutterers have. Why not give it a second shot? .
