My brother and I stutter almost the same way. I'm 20, and he's 12. We also both do a weird thing with our hands when we get nervous or excited. It's weird because no one else in the family does it, not that I know of. How about all of you? They say stuttering can be genetic...

My dad had a little trouble with R's but thats about it. I have two younger sisters, ages 5 and 2 (and I'm 18, yeah big age difference lol). The one thats 5 actually did start to stutter a little but currently she's not having any trouble.

That thing you do with your hands, maybe related to Tourette's? Cause that's related to stuttering.

My father, sister, a female cousin, an uncle. Maybe more if they're really good at hiding it. Now who littered that gene pool? :-/

Hmmm, tourette's? that is interesting, because I never thought of that. No one ever mentioned it either. Maybe I should read up on it.
It's kinda like a little spasm we do. We put our hands up to our face contourt them in different ways. It's not as weird as you think, but people notice. My family used to laugh and ask me why I did it. My brother still does it all the time. Now that I've aged a bit, I don't do it too often... still catch myself at times though.

I get spasms too sometimes. Like I get a creepy crawly feeling coming over me then I just jump and feel better, like a sneeze. People with Tourette's are treated with the same medication that works to help stutterers - antipsychotics. Both Tourette's and stuttering affects mostly males too.

My brother stuttered from when he could talk until he was 5. He's 19 now and has no problems. My grandfather suttered for a while as well. I think it skips a generation  .
