I stutter and have stuttered my whole life. I'm positive it's past down genetically because my father has also struggled with it. I'm highly intelligent and I get so frustrated I'm unable to express my views without a struggle. When I was young I'll never forget when I got so frustrated not being able to speak fluent that I started crying. My father took me aside and said if people aren't patient enough to hear you speak, they aren't worth being part of your life.

I've never talked to a fellow strutter about this problem and I hope to express my feelings with you guys.

btw - I have a 17 month old son and it would kill me to know that he stutters. My Wife thinks I'm crazy for even thinking that knowing how blessed I am in my life. I still worry that I've passed this on to him.

Nice to meet you, Chicagochris.

I don't have any children, but I know what you mean. Having a stutter can be the most frustrating thing in the world. But speech therapy has come a long way since I was younger and if there is a chance someone's child does develop a stutter, professional help is readily available.

Welcome Chicagochris and please to meet u. I have 7 yr old twin daughters and they both stutter. With today's information, u can encourage ur children to become anything they want and educate them. When i was growing up i did not know anything about my stutter until i reached my 20's. i feel the girls have a great big head start in what i had to go thru. Children are our future, we have to keep up the faith and hope.
