Hi all. If anyone's interested in hearing if Propranolol is helping me speak more fluenty...
I'm on my 2nd day on this med and for the first time in my life I feel as if this big tight knot inside is now gone. I still stutter but the intensity is less. The anticipated fear of stuttering is gone so even if I do stutter I don't mind. It's still too early to tell. Hope it gets better.
I feel so relaxed and even euphoric sometimes. I feel great. :p
I'll give more details later.

Watch out for that euphoria cotton, can be dangerous sometimes :o . Addiction, increasing dosage...it's all connected. Great to hear that it's been working for you. Keep us updated, and stay safe  .

So far it's not working. I'm on my 6th day and I'm still stuttering. :( I did speak fluently in the beginning. My friend was amazed that I was speaking with little stuttering. 100% of my stuttering was cut down to 10%. Then it was lost. The euphoria is now gone and I'm having depression and trouble sleeping. I'm taking 7mg. The person in the Hope Document who experimented with it was on 10mg.
But it's helping me a lot with other problems caused by high adrenaline which I naturally have because of a heart condition. I'm less anxious, I don't experience hypoglycemia anymore, less lactic acid released in muscles so I feel more flexible, my resting heart used to beat 95bpm - now it beats 76bpm. I didn't realize my body was under constant stress until I took this med.
Doogle, I bought it from an online pharmacy without prescription. $35 for 100 pills at 40mg each. I chopped them up into pieces. Message me if you want to know more details. They also carry Buspar.
---"A study from Duke University revealed that as little as two cups of coffee increased adrenaline levels by 160%, (Psychosomatic Medicine 52:320-336, 1990).* Smoking also triggers the release of stress hormone in the body."
I'll post my results a week later.

The more I'm learning about propranolol the more concerned I am for anyone without heart problems experimenting with this.
For anyone who's thinking about trying this -- I really think you should try a natural alternative. A large population of the US have magnesium deficiencies which causes adrenaline overload and anxiety. This also causes our muscles to tighten and have breathing problems -- figure our vocal / abdominal muscles when speaking.
"Magnesium seems to affect everything from breathing patterns to reflex muscle tension. Oral dosage: magnesium oxide or magnesium citrate, 150-200 mg. two-three times daily. Diarrhea is a possible side effect."
Highly recommend fixing magnesium deficiency before considering propranolol. I'm going to try that too.

That's a good choice doogle. Buspar. Keep us updated on your experience. Very interested to know.
I'm sorry everyone. I had to stop propronolol because I couldn't take the side effects: dry eyes, spaced-out feeling, blurry vision, easily tired. I have a super FAST metabolism so any pill I take the SE hits me hard. I can tell you it has a similar effect to Paxil in the way you sort of feel detached from your speech. I would stick to it if it weren't for the SE. The flow of air when speaking seems more correct, so I do gain fluency.
So what am I going to do with 98 pills left? Silly me.
Doogle Im wishing you the very best luck on the Buspar. I pray you'll find something that works.

Hi cotton...I also ordered propranolol and tried it last week but unfortunatly I got a panic attack from it. Not that it really caused the attack...I did it to myself... I suffer from panic attacks and I could feel my body relax.... I started thinking that my heart was going to relax a bit too much and stop......lol and then panic set in... Actually ran to my doc and confessed :D
I got the propranolol online as well. I got my doc to prescribe buspar for me. Nothing to report yet but will be going to 15 mil a day in a week. Felt a little dizzy first few days but I dont feel it anymore. Lets see if it helps with my blocks and/or anxiety...
Thanks for the tip on coffe and magnesium deficiency ..
Good luck ...

Hi..
My doc prescribed 10 mg a day for a week. .5 in the morn and 5 in the eve. then he said take 15 mg a day... 7.5 mg morn and 7.5 at night...total 15 mg..
15 is a low dosage for buspar and he thinks I will need to up it as time goes by. But he wants to see how it goes first.
So yes you should at least take two pils but not together...
Good luck ...
