My name's Deven Im a senior at Puyallup High In Washington State. I've stuttered pretty much as long as I can remember. When I was younger it was kinda like, "no big deal" but the older I get the more it has a negative effect on my life. I have a mix of silent blocks and repititions. Right now I'm just tryin to find my place in life. sometimes I feel like If i had a girlfriend and a good job then I wouldnt really care about stuttering. But all that is much easier said then done. Anyways Im on myspace/devenwallewein if you have one, and Im lookin forward to talkin with other people who stutter. Thanks

howdy :)
yeah i can totally relate. zomg i am so fricking scared of leaving school for the pure fact that i have noooo idea what i'm gonna do with my life. i have no idea where i want to/can work and i will need money to go to university to then get a real job in the first place. *dies* But yeah if i picture my future life with a significant other and a stable job than my stutter seems like almost nothing - cause at least i'm not lonely and starving. But then i get caught up with the huge question of WHERE CAN A STUTTERER WORK? like yeah we 'can' work anywhere.. all you need is a thick skin. But i am like one of those super sensitive people who start to tear up at the first harsh word haha :p
i used to go out with this guy who new i stuttered and all and he seemed perfectly cool with it. It was/still is the most suprising thing in the world haha. but then again i didnt stutter that much around him for some reason so it only appeared to be fairly mild to him..
how bad is your stutter?

Welcome to the forum. You know, I grew up in Graham, went to Bethel High School, but I haven't been back there for a long, long time.

lol:)
Sometimes I feel like if I owned a continent, nine palaces and a harem of my very own, I wouldn't really care much about stuttering either.
Oh - and doughnuts. LOTS of doughnuts!
Welcome to the misfit madhouse :)
WE CARE!
I think the key is to strive to have the best life you can even though you stutter ,ther are going to be many things that will effect your life in a negative way ,its all how you handle them, you can choose to sit home and complain or go after what you want ,its up to you !

welcome
a good job will help you with you self esteem(if you don't do something stupid like it did)
but you will still care about your stuttering at least i did,But for some reason i didn't stutter with any of the girls that i worked with.
just try to take it one day a a time. Try to get a job and then worry about the girlfriend.
PSL this has nothing to do with this topic but listen to the Finnish band
HIM
