View Full Version : Why do people who don't stutter get ridiculed for trying to be nice or supportive

Why is it when people like myself who do not stutter get interrogated by those who do? I try to be nice to everyone no matter whether fluent or not and I find it highly unfair that someone like myself who has a caring heart and no motive gets critiscized for trying to help someone who struggles. I may not stutter but I was diagnosed with ADD(Attention Deifict Disorder) so I know what it is like to feel embarrased or humiliated. I know several through this group and another who stutter and a select few from both groups appreciate my support and understanding and kindness. It's just ashame that there are others who do not appreciate my understanding or supportive nature and always think I want something back in return. :(

I'm just a new member, but have visited the forum in the past few months. I don't cl to understand people and their behavior, but we all have our defensive mechanism. I would appreciate your friendship anytime. Your friend that stutters is one lucky guy to have you as your friend. One thing I have learned is that you can't please everyone no matter how much you try. Keep it up and raise your shields every now and then.

Stathomemom... this is the internet, people feel like big-shots and hurt others to make thier self-esteem go up a little bit. Those kind of people are called "internet trolls"... heres a definition from urbandictionary.com
One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument

I will try my very best to be not a Troll. Somedays, I do get grumpy, but I feel real bad if I vent my frustration onto someone else. I can see how some people feel the need to built bringing other people down. My mother is one of those types. She told me once in my face that she doesn't have any sons. I feel angry, but sorry for her and most of the time I just ignore her. I understand you stayathomemon, don't have any answers in people's behavior, just people will be people, no matter the handicapp they have.

Standingtall.....Andrew wasn't calling you a Troll....he was calling stayathomemom a troll (and of course we know that it escaladed from there into another post in the stuttering forum)....but all that is in the past now and i'm glad that we're all back on speaking terms with each other. :D
