well after the longest validation process i have ever sat through i am finally here!. so here is my story. first off my name is Curt Meyer. i live in Sioux Falls South Dakota where i attend Southeast Technical Institute currently completing my Electronics Tech degree. untimately going after a degree in Biomedical Equipment Tech. I grew up in a small town of around 500-600 people and graduated in a class of 7 students. (yes i said seven) i grew up in an automotive family and have been driving something or another since i could walk. some kids got those sit-n-spins, i got a go-cart. i grew up riding snowmobiles, skiing, and most of all playing paintball. paintball was my life for most of high school. i have been forced to take a break from it to take a break form it to pay for school.
i have stuttered ever since i can remember. i have been told that when i was little my family would tickle my feet. my great grandfathers responce to that was "stop tickling his feet or he will stutter when he is older." no joke. it started off with a repeating sounds and turned into the word blocks that i still deal with from time to time. i had a realy hard time with it through jr high and the begining of highschool. eventually i desided i didnt care what others thought of me and my speech got alot better. i also took classes for most of gradeschool and jr high.
i still have trouble from time to time. some days are better than others but i will say i have had a decently positive life dealing with it.
oh and one story that was the worst i have ever had with it. i was in a BK drivethrough and couldnt say "coke" i was told to pull to the window so i did... when i got there the manager came and told me: "if your gonna act like this you can eat somewhere else." completely confused and pissed how he just walked away i pounded on the window and demanded an explination. he said i was making fun of his team memeber that had a stutter. would have been fine if he would have let me explain how i had a stutter. instead he was an ass and didnt beleive me.
anyways... sorry for the long rant lol hope i can help out around here as much as possible

Hi Cjm555. Welcome to the forum. I'm a new member too and had the same problem with the validation process. It was the longest ever. Probably about 3 or 4 weeks. Then I had to spend about a week on moderation waiting for the posts to be approved. It was a complete headache. I sincerely hope in the future this will be fixed... :(

Your story reminds me of my story. I think you can learn from it and see how it feels like to have severe stuttering. Here's a link to my introduction story: http://www.stutteringforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2956. Anyway I'm sure you'll be a big help on this forum and don't forget to have fun at the same time!
