I think its called Situational stuttering

anyways i have noticed that i stutter way way more with a particular person,My uncle roger. and i dont know why he's my favorite uncle, we share alot of the same hobbies so were always going to the same places together.and i like talking to him because he's patient an he wont finish my words like everyone else and he doesn't get mad when i stutter like some people do.

Obviously i've accepted and embraced that my stuttering wont ever go away but do you guys have any tips on improving situational stuttering?

thanks

Yes I believe it's call situational stuttering and I have it too. I stutter way worse with people I feel comfortable with, like my husband.

I don't really have any tips for fluency though...I could use my techniques when I talk to him...but I'd rather just be myself around my husband, ya know?

How is your stutter when you talk to impatient people or someone who gets mad? Do you stutter less or are you just more careful with your words?

strangely i'm the oposite i am worse with the people i am comfortable with.

but with my grandfather who is hard of hearing i always have a hard time talking with... in his words "we have a hell of a time with conversations, you cant talk and i cant hear what your trying to say."

I believe in hitting such situations hard. If i have a bad phone call then I try to make 10 more calls fast to keep my confidence up. I also try to focus on technique (McGuire) and never avoid feared situations. I try never let anything get me down or stop me. Hammer the situation until it becomes boring and easier. Remember that you have to wipe those bad memories away and rewrite your record book in a sense. Think of the fear that you bring into feared speaking situations even before you begin to speak. Imagine facing them without such built up fear. Also remember that very very few people in the world speak without any faults, blocks or stutters. We just happen to stutter more often than others. Remember also that many many people have fears of public speaking, not just us.

thats hilarious :D

i haven't spent much time with hard hearing people, my grandparents live in a different country so i only get to see them once every 3 years.

Tips no...apart from stay away from that situation.but thats common sense and its kinda hard to stay away from frieds and family.

1. i know that one of the reasons it may seem that u stutter more especially around people u know is that u probably talk alot more and by inference u would have that many more stuttering moments.
2.the other reason is i think that when u r around people u know r used to the way u speak and dont mind...u tend to let your hair down as it were and not concentrate so much on "trying not to stutter". so thats another reason.
3. oh and here's a third...i stutter much more with my father but its not coz i am more relaxed about stuttering, but the opposite. i'm freaked out of my mind. coz he minds y'know? he doesnt like it. and for me the harder i try not to stutter, the worse it gets so perhaps that too is form of situational stuttering. whis is why i dont visit him unless i think he's dying. there are also other things that keep me away but thats one of the reasons.

thats something i thought about, but i talk to my siblings way more and i stutter way less with them than with my uncle.

i never try not to stutter(i used to) but now i know its going to happen so i just let it happen, or just laugh it off
