Sometimes, I'd answer like "H-H-Hello?" which was kinda embarrassing... moreso if it was someone I know. But I found a surefire way to answer the phone fluently (for me anyway) and I won't be a meanie and charge you for it.

The phone rings 1ce or twice, and I say Hello once or twice before I pick up then I say it immedletly. I get the "H-H-H..." out when the phone is still ringing, and I answer with "Hello". To some... this is small potatoes, but for me, great success! :D

Hopefully some others find this helpful. Only problem is you can't really do it when there are others around... then you're on your own.

Well I know you hate me but that is a great news.

Thanks for the compliment. I don't hate you, I just can't be around those who make me feel depressed. We can post to eachother in threads but as long as it refers to stuttering, I don't want to talk about our relationship (or lack thereof).

At home that will work.

At my job - I just have to suffer.

Everybody loves Stayathomemom. We all just get pissed off sometimes, especially when it comes to something as frustrating and humilating as stuttering.

I've tried this a lot before and it sometimes even backfired on me. I would be saying "hi" or "hello" over and over and psyching myself up to pick up the phone. Then when I go to pick it up, I can't get it out or I say it like 3 times in a row, which kinda sounds weird to the listener. Also, I don't stutter if I'm just talking to myself so thats another reason why it wouldn't work for me. And besides, you would still have to get the rest out too! :)
