Never tried hypnosis in my life. Heard about a plenty from the forum.
But, is it a waste of time and is it useless, or is it of benefit??

Not at all, hypnosis is great in my opinion. People very often become fustrated if they dont see results right away.

If it works for you then it works for you. What do you want to use it for?

You can use it for anything, its really just meditating with a goal in mind. It turns your complete attention to completly relaxing and visualizing clearly. So for example, for stuttering, you would use hypnosis/meditation techniques to relax your body and mind, which makes visualization much easier and clear, and you can visualize being in a talking situation, without stuttering, or calmly talking and getting out of blocks with ease. Athletes do this all the time, like in gymnastics, they use hypnosis to relax and visualize exactly how there going to execute a flip or something, and when they actually do it, its easier. Many people misunderstand hypnosis like its some kinda mind control scary thing, its really just using your mind to its pontential.

I went through hypnosis when I was younger in an effort to get rid of my stuttering but it didn't do a thing for me. I was quite young at the time (around 12 or so) and due to this I can't remember much about the procedure or what it involved. All I can say is that I remember it being fairly expensive and it had no effect on my stuttering.

You payed for it? I think its better to do it yourself.

Don't forget all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The therapist only teaches you how to hypnotize yourself; once you've learned it you don't need them.

Therapists are can work easier for some people, since you dont have to use as much of your own mind. Self hypnosis books worked well for me, lucid dreaming works even better haha. Its just like ultra hypnosis.
Hypnosis is garbage, honestly I don't think it works. But then again, stranger things have happened.

I went through hypnosis as a child. It did not help at all. I have heard through reliable sources that it does help some people. You can't lose anything by trying.

I think it can work if you have believe and have faith in it. If you're just doing it just for the sake of giving it a shot then I don't think you will be happy with any results you get. It goes hand in hand with the theory that, say, if you are sick, if you stay positive and believe you will get better, it works with you and speeds up your recovery. And if you are negative about your chances, you will never get better.
I think the power of the mind is very underestimated!
There is also the placebo effect, which tricks you into getting better with your mind. Not really a direct and pure way of improving oneself, but it works for some people.

Exactly, it only works by adding to a positive perspective in the first place. I agree the power of the mind is extreamly underestimated, were usually just slaves to it haha.

I tried it for three sessions (at $75 each, and no, no insurance company will cover it). At the third session the person (very renouned where I live) said I was just not capable of being hypnotized, that it was "not for me". But the $150 from the first two sessions were for him apparently... forgot to mention, the therapist stuttered himself!
