I was wondering if other ppl had the same sleep patterns as i have. i have a really hard time falling asleep at night. my mind is going a million times per second thinking about random, not important things, like trying to name all the characters on a TV show...or remembering all the clothes in my closet...
i read somewhere that stutters brains work faster than a normal person and this might have to do with the delay or repeated speech patterns... any thoughts? or am i just a big ball of anxiety??
also...once asleep i never wanna get outta bed! i could literally sleep all day...ugh!

Sounds like A.D.D, which I can relate too haha. I wonder if the speech part of the brain relates to A.D.D somehow.

This sounds like me most nights.
However, I noticed that if I get up early, this doesn't happen. Last semester all my classes were 8am, so I was getting up at 7am. I had no problem going to sleep. This semester my classes aren't until 10am-12pm...so I don't get up nearly as early...and I have a hard time falling asleep most nights.

I often have trouble getting to sleep to but I wouldn't say it is as bad as perhaps it is for nik037 as I don't find myself listing things like my clothes.
One problem I do have is that I seem to wake up a lot during the night and due to this I rarely get a long uninterrupted patch of sleep. I also have a really high amount of dreams, usually two or three each night.

Man this thread is so ME! I go to bed wicked late, and sleep the day away. I have no clue why. I don't know if it has to do with stuttering or what!!
I definatly agree with what you said about our brains going a mile a second and that may contribute to our stuttering.
Could it be are minds travel so fast that our words can't travel as fast as our minds think or our words are slower than our minds??
I think if there was a way to slow our minds day AS we were talking, our stuttering would rapidly go down.
If we can think clearer, we can speak clearer--that's just my opinion.
By the way nik037, you are GORGEOOUS-- what's a princess like you doing in a place like this!!!!
Can I clone you, so we could hang out together??? The original of you could live where you live now, and the clone could be mailed to where I live, and come fully alive when I unwrap th box.
You are a blond bombette sweetums!
Very classy! Your talking about shoving her in a box! LOL

To be mailed to me or any other guy looking for a princess like her that knows the crap we go through on a daily basis:)
She could be shipped over night to my house or any of us guys on the forum here.
A human copy machine-to copy people we like the most so the original doesn't have to say "I have a boyfriend".
We could say, "that's OK"
But darn it- why isn't there any inner and outer gorgeousness like Nifty Niki who is not ikki and very sticky where I ive!!

I don't think "Niki in the night" has any competition from either of us because she's taken by someone where she lives!!!!
Come on Terrific Tenacious--let's not hog the gold godess--we should share it!!!!

I have a lot of dreams each night oo and usually remember them VERY vivid. This can be awful and haunt me through out the rest of the day if they are bad.

I can usually fall asleep okay, but sometimes I wake up a lot earlier than I'd like to and can't get back to sleep.
Have you been depressed lately? When I was very depressed, I'd do the same thing where my thoughts would be racing when I tried to go to sleep, and then once I was asleep I would not want to get out of bed. I could sleep 14 hours straight once I finally got to sleep, and I still would feel tired.

I can def relate... as I type this its 1:00AM and I prolly wont fall asleep until 3-4. I then wakeup to go to class @ 6, come home and nap until 8:00pm. Sometimes I lay awake in bed for hours just thinking and even talking to myself if I have a job interview or a presentation the next day. On average id say I go to bed at 3:30AM and have been doing so for over a year. Funny, I do the same thing about TV shows... heres a tip--dont watch lost--or youll be up all night! :)
On weekends I sleep in until late in the afternoon sometimes.

I often stay up late being on the internet, watching movies, and maybe listening to coast to coast, a radio show. I also pace a lot and think about the days events. I also could sleep all day if I did not have to go to work.

I think that is an urban legend with stuttering. I have not seen any scientific proof.

i have that problem... i will be going ot bed in about a half hour (around midnight) and i wont fall asleep till around 12:30 at the earliest... though i dont end up listing my clothes :P i do think of alot of things... like right now i am planning a ski trip for the weekend so i think alot of what i should do/bring for that.
i have heard that thing about stutterers brain working to fast to talk normaly.. lol and i realy think that is most of my problem...
the wierd thing about it is... if i wake up from a dream (good or bad) i start thinking about how it could have gone from the point it stopped... and i only tend to fall back into the dream if its a bad one lol

This happens a lot if the person has a very busy schedule. Where they run around all day long with a zillion things to do.. and when lying down at night their mind is still racing from the day's activities. But not everyone experiences it.
I've really never had a problem sleeping in a looong time, but recently have noticed a change in my patterns. I fall asleep ok but then wake after just an hour or 2 and cannot get back to sleep. When I finally do fall asleep, like Nik, I do not want to wake up and end up oversleeping. It's getting better now but for 2 weeks it was like that. Nothing has changed in my life either.
I don't associate my stuttering with sleep at all, I think that's a bit ridiculous. Overall, I find it helpful to more exercise and lay off caffeine.

some guy mailed himself across america in via UPS. it happened some years ago. and he didnt even get caught like hiding in the box. the idiot jumped out to surprise his mom before the delivery guy had left.
tells u how much bullshit that airport security is. i mean they search little old ladies when they know there are boxes of mail underneath that havent been searched!!!
just an FYI!
