Hey, my name is Rob and I'm from Miami. I am actually earning my grad degree in Speech Pathology at the moment but I want to specialize in acute and rehab care for patients with strokes and other brain injuries and in dysphagia (chewing and swallowing disorders). Like most people, I've stuttered since I can remember. I've had a few stints in speech therapy but what has helped the most has been just changing my attitude. I try to approach new situations without trepidation, instead of relying on the avoidance behaviors that got me here in the first place. I would classify my stuttering as far less severe than it was in elementary and junior high school.

Apart from that, I spend a great deal of time in and around the ocean. I surf (on the rare occasion that we get decent waves in Miami), freedive, and take underwater photographs.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Hey Rob - welcome. :)

That's a pretty interesting choice of career - I imagine you are (or will be) learning things that apply to yourself too?

Thanks for the welcome, good to meet you guys. Kwe, actually, I've learned almost everything that I know about stuttering through my own research, since only 1/2 of a class is dedicated to it in graduate school.
