Hi mike, I'm gene. Good to have you here. The only advice I can give you, be natural and if your stutter comes up, then it can be a conversation topic. The strong silent type, eh! I like that approach. Best of luck.

Hi Mike and welcome to the forum!
If you've been talking to her for some time now and she hasn't noticed it then I guess your one of the luckier ones who's stuttering isn't that bad. For others, like myself, who have a more severe problem, it's pretty obvious to the people I talk to.
As for your situation.....Yes, you should be upfront and honest with her. You could start off by asking if she has noticed anything different with your speech. Then bring up the topic of your stuttering and tell her you're the "quiet type" because of this. It would probably relieve you of some stress and you could then talk to her more and get to know her a little better. Hope some of this helps!

dude, i say completely ignore it. for a long time i thought that it was a big issue but us stutterers sometimes forget that for the most part people don't care. they don't stop what they're doing and laugh at you or something; they keep doing what they're doing as if nothing happened. if you stumble, just ignore it; she will notice it but surprisingly won't care. i stumble sometimes and my friends notice it but they never ask, "what the heck is wrong with you??". they just continue on.

I'm 18 going to a Technical College. I told my teacher my problem, and he understood. HE understod I did all my work, correctly, and sometimes answered my homework so well he didn't understand it. I told him im CET certified in electronics, and calling on me only took away from the education of the others. He knew I was advanced, and never called on me. I skipped all of the classes but the Final Exam, which I got a A on even tho i didnt study since 10th grade which taught me Basic DC. Needless to say I got a A on a exam I studied 2 years go.
A teacher asked my last name in f ront of the whole class my name.... UH OH ( i cant say my last name well ) so I said it... studdering. A kid asked "whats wrong with u?" and i said "you're in phila... not NJ... i will you up" and that was the end. Remember we cant talk well, but we can still cause physicsl harm.

I argee with what that other person said, if you stutter and she notices it then you could talk about it. Also the next time she asks why you don't talk that much then you could tell her. Well this post is kinda late so maybe it has been solved :p
Well i sometimes have this kind of problem also but I never told anyone about my stutter, I could hide it pretty well but that means I don't talk so much and people also branded my the strong silent type. Only a few people know, which I knew for years since I was a kid so I speak kinda openly with them even if i stutter.

if i make friends with someone who i would be talking to alot, then i would tell them.
the funny thing is, when i told them, they said they didnt even notice it.
