My advice would be to think loooonnnggg and hhhhaaarrrdd before going. I will be getting my BA in Speech-Language Pathology this May after 5 years of college. I wish I would have waited to see what I really wanted to do with my life before just diving right into college after HS because that's what you're "supposed" to do :)

Emily,
Thanx for your response and thats where I'm still at. One of my grandmas was sorta in that position.
Yup, you need a college degree these days to get your foot in the door. I guess employers look at it as something you can start and finish. To get a job you will need a degree but at the same time you'll meet people that you'll be friends with for the rest of your life.

Not always. Most times, but not for everybody.
I know, there's always the exception to the rule :)

From the viewpoint of a foreigner I see the college in America as the doorway to life. For all I know the Americans who don't have a college degree only work in horrible jobs, whereas all the others make the big money. That's what I see in movies.

Most times true, not all the time. My husband barely graduated high school, but he has a great job (he has a trade).

Actually tradies over in OZ generally earn very good money, more than a simple lecturer such as myself in general. But they do work longer hours and in worse conditions. In IT though still only around 50% have any formal qualifications.
