Hello, I'm inquiring about benefits for us stutterers, mines right now is about a 7 and I am asking are their any government programs that can help us with money, jobs...etc.
I am signed up at vocational rehab and they gave me a speech device but I am thinking more along the lines of SSI or some kind of financial assistance since for some of us stutterers we can only do certain jobs.
Can I please have some feedback on this?
As a stutterer I can only really do jobs that don't require much speaking and I can't really make the money that I need to support myself since most of these jobs don't pay much at all.
Thank you.

Im with ya-- I want to get a promotion but will not
get promoted at my office job because of the stutter aspect--
Makes me sick- and it's not right---
And that stutter thing makes us not being able to get promoted-- it makes me sick- it's disturbing!!!
State Rehab agencies should have a heart---
and pay for these helpfull devices that will help us get promoted at work....!!!
Good luck!!! Let me know of any additional finanacial
funding-- Im from NY!!!!

South Florida, please pm me your email if you want to talk about it, I would love to find a way to get this done. As a stutterer, I think we need some sort of break, it's really hard for us to fit in and we need to get more acceptance from non-stutterers.

As much as I wish there was some kind of compensation, I doubt that there is anything out there. :( I don't think it's actually recognized as a real disability. Think of it kinda as survival of the fittest.
Heres an example that happened to me. I just started college this fall. I emailed the disability support services at my college explaining my situation and that it affects me. I asked them if stuttering would be considered as a disability and if so, then what type of accommodations I could get. Well, they never even replied back to me.

That is very bad-- they definately have issues!!
Visit them in person, or call them- but make
sure opinions get heard!!! I think it is discrimination
for stuttering to not be considered a problem to be helped with a device...in other words-- for
stuttering not to be considered a disablity is
outragoeous, obsurd, and wrong....we should have
ever right to get compensated as much as possible for these aids-- cause they cost in thousands--
people should not make money off of others
suffering- these sellers have no idea how
stuttering makes us mad--and that we dont have the kind of money they want...
