I just thought I's share a recent email I sent
to Dr Schwartz -he's the one behind the
passive airflow strategy we all have heard about... and the email response i got from him....here it is::

My message::

Dr S:::

Does the airflow technique work for severe stutteres who stutter that do not have largynal spasms--- ?? Some might stutter who's chords do not lock up...

---Thank You---

His response::

they all have laryngeal spasms.

My thoughts:: he has a very narrow-minded approach to stuttering--it's either locked vocal chords
that causes stuttering, or you don't stutter....

Any opinions on the methods to his madness!!!

I know there is a Yahoo Group on the Fluency Enhancer which is a device that helps you better use the airflow technique-- it's a DAF device-- but not the best DAF device....you wear headphones- and a one sided ear-bud and listen to the second voice---
problem -- it does not carry over!!!! It is not
like the speech easy---

Anyway I expressed in the group that i was having trouble using the airflow technique and that it was not working for me---

and I GOT BANNED!!!!!!

That's defenately very unfair, and the moderator should be banned--

One should not be banned for having a negative opinion...

His technique is based on 11 out of 45 recovered stutterers. That's like 25%. Stuttering is complex. It's more than larygeal muscles. Even our own stuttering is different is from each other. Most of mine is under control by fixing an imbalance in my body with vitamins.

why? why did you get banned?? Does this device have some kind of business contract with Dr. S? hmm... sounds like an informercial in the form of an egroup.

I don't know why i got banned- I think because
i said the delay was too short on the device-- and got banned.....as for a business contract i don't know,
I guess one could call it a "exclusive club" for
positve users of the device and negative users
are not accepted.....

I very well could have gotten banned because i was having a negative experience with the device-- in fact i think that's it...and also because of the above
comment about hearing the delay too soon because it was too short....

The Airflow method may work, but Schwartz's fixed view that stuttering is caused by "laryngeal spasms" is flawed. Bill Parry has proven that stuttering blocks also occur in the mouth.

An imbalance in the body eh??? That's something
I never thought of before that could be contributing
to my stuttering...

What vitamins do you take that I might be able to try?? I know there is always a risk involved in trying
these new things, but we never know if something
will help if we don't try..!
