Hi All,
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a 23 yr male from Sydney, Australia. I'm half way through my Masters in Town Planning... and getting nearer to the stage where I have to get a 'real' job... and the anxiety levels are rising! Was wondering whether any of you have been discriminated against in job interviews/getting a job. Most of the jobs im applying to require 'excellent communication skills'. i know this doesnt only mean oral communication... written and non-verbal is just as important... but it does play a big role in getting a job!
Hope to chat to some of you soon.

I interviewed for a job where I would be on the phone a lot. I do have 3 years of experience with this and that was good. In the interview I thought I stuttered a lot..well I did stutter a lot. Despite that fact....I was still offered the job.

Some of it had to do with confidence. Despite stuttering, I still displayed confidence, about my problem...i believe this led to the job offer.

I definately didn't feel discriminated against....and to clarify again...I did stutter alot in the interview. I even had to stop a few times and start my answers over.

This employer, which was a pretty anal guy I thought, was able to see talent beyond the stuttering. So don't worry about getting a job, or the interview process....just display as much confidence as you can. Good luck Friends..

Welcome, I had a few job interviews and gave a few. I was all nerves in the waiting room, but I brough up what personalilty I had and did my best to impress the other people accross the table. One job I didn't get was because I didn't have the knowledge, but I still have coffee with those people down the hall.
