hi again. today I am starting on the drug combo of Celexa and Xanax in my never ending quest to control my blocking / stuttering. I will post any effects I get from the medication in case anyone is interested in trying it themselves. I only block and would classify myself as ranging from moderate to severe.

Do you ask your doctor for these drugs? When I talk with my doctor about any drugs she freaks out. Its incredible, anyway I'm interested in your tests results.

A few of my family members take Xanax for their anxiety and it worked for them ok. And last year I actually tried Celexa but I didn't see any changes in my speech whatsoever. But everyone's different so I hope it works for you! I too am interested in your results :)

Hope it helps ya.... I was on this EXACT mix, and got quite a few sexual side effects and had a hell of a time coming off Celexa. Hopefully you will get a better result.

Hi all. My psychiatrist recommened a try Rivotrol first (chemical name Clonazepam) I take 0.5mg pills twice a day (so 1mg a day). He recommended I wait a while before changing to Celexa as I am currently on Prozac at the moment and it is unadvisable to change 2 medications at the same time. In total here is everything I take for my stutter daily:

1) 1mg Clonazepam
2) 10mg Prozac
3) 100mg 5-htp
4) 250mg GABA

I tried this combo for the first time yesterday and have can't remember feeling so calm and fluent. I would say it immediately made about 60-70% improvement. I will have a light block once every few sentences still, but compared to how I was before...lol...lets put it this way, I couldn't find a stutterrer on youtube that sounded worse than me!

I will keep posting and really hope these postive effects will continue. Clonazepam is the key component to this fluency which I never achieved through hours of speech therapy and breathing techniques.

Yeah, I suffer from HEAVY blocks. Very unpredictable as at times I am almost 100% fluent and then a few hours later I block on every word I say. The clonazepam is still working quite well...it is far from a cure but if you are looking for a +50% improvement in fluency and blocks, I strongly recommenend you give it a try.

Hi thatCALIdude, well the 5-htp and GABA are cheap and available at health stores or pharmacies, prob about 100 ZAR a month (roughly 10-15 USD)

Prozac (fluoxetine) has many extremely cheap generics, and Rivotrol (Clonazepam) , which is called Klonopin in the USA. is pretty expensive and has no cheap generics.

Both Prozac and Rivotrol should be covered by your medical aid (they covered mine completely)

Good luck.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Are you seeing any side effects? Do you need prescription to get all these meds?

i'm having an exam in seven days
what do you think it's the best rivotril or xanax?
i'll be happy to achieve just a 30/40 percent improvement in my speech for this exam
