As a personal trainer I would like to think that exercise helps my stutter. I feel that low intensity cardio helps my stutter the most. It keeps my anxiety levels low

High intensity cardio gets my anxiety up and my heart pounding. I usually have trouble speaking for the rest of the day until I can get some sleep.

Weight Training I'm very fluent up unto an hour after weight training after that I feel my speech getting worse.

I've heard this has to do with increased dopamine levels.

I feel that stretching helps my speech sometimes

Anyone else have similar experiences?

I exercise a lot doing both weights and cardio but I haven't really noticed it having any effect on my stuttering. In general though I do feel more mentally content and perhaps slightly happier after I have exercised.

I like to workout too, sometimes 3-4 times a week. Lately I've been doing a lot of cardio and I become fluent for 1-2 hours after. Think it's because the "runner's high" I get during and after the workout. The more I workout the better my fluency, guess stuttering has its health benefits lol.

I'm training for a Tough Mudder in July and I found that through running and doing cardio, even intense cardio, my speech is improved. Of course it's different for everyone, but I just feel more calm.

I feel as though when I do stutter, it's like my brain is a type writes and my thoughts are the ribbon, and the ribbon is beginning to get off track, and the more it gets off track is the worse the stutter is. It's as though too many neurons are firing in my brain and my mouth can't keep up. Again, I recognize that this is probably not most people's experience. When I'm stressed out and have more cortisol pumping through me, it gets worse, but when there's more serotonin (such as because I worked out) it's better.

When I started grad school this Fall before I started working out, it was pretty bad after almost a year of my stutter being virtually nonexistent. I signed up for the Tough Mudder and began training right before the semester began. This Spring semester hasn't been nearly as bad. It may be in part because I've gotten used to the workload and being back in school, but I think the cardio has really really helped. I try to run a few times a week and I do the Insanity workout videos.
