I was wondering if anyone here has considered or is using TTY device?

I know this can't be used to replace phones at work, but what about making appointments or calling to ask a question from home?

I suppose the downside is getting so accustomed to teletyping and (1) will get angry to find out a particular place doesn't support TTY and (2) will eventually forget that little hope to speak fluently in life.

I suppose this can also relate to email communication, but not all places support email. Try making a doctor appointment with email.

I especially do not want #2 to happen, though.

I think using a teletyping system will make your stammer worse to be honest, I used to be petrified of using the telephone, would run out of a room if one rang.
You've just gotta grit your teeth and try and make as many phone calls as you can to beat this fear of them. You will have nightmare calls when nothing is coming out whatsoever, but the majority of people are understanding, they will wait for you to finish your sentence, and the more you do this the more confident you'll be about calling people.

If you resort to teletyping all the time this will be one hurdle you'll never get over. Just start by making really easy calls "what time do you close" etc... stuff where you dont have to say too much.

Good luck! :D
