Thanks Studentdoc -
I contacted them by email asking on how to enroll in their study.
GABA (Amino-acid) can also be purschased in any health food store but this drug seems to act differently on GABA receptors.

Hey Gary - if I remember correctly you weren't able to enroll in the study, right? Anyway I looked into Gaba from health food stores and you are correct that it doesn't work on the same receptors. The thing is, it is hard for GABA to cross the blood-brain barrier (it's hard for GABA to get into the brain) so most of the GABA in the brain is produced in the brain. So taking it as a pill form wouldn't be of much help. There are ways to mix the product with another drug that crossed the blood-brain barrier and that's probably what Pagaclone does. In any case, I tried searching online for other GABA agonists and only found Gabapentin (Neurontin) which is used for epilepsy - but unfortunately it works on different receptors. Hopefully another drug works on these receptors that we can get our hands on. Let's see how Phase II study went next month!!!!
