Many PWS complain people interrupt them when they stutter.
However, do any of you notice that YOU interrupt people?
I notice this all the time. Whenever someone has spoken, and it's my turn to speak, I find myself blocked..
Then when they start speaking again, I immediately am able to speak, which leads me to interrupt them.
It's pretty annoying.

Exactly the case with me

I've been feeling that way for years..as If I need
someone else to talk BEFORE I do to make
me not stutter!!! And if someone starts talking,
i tend to interupt them---
Yes it's normaly rude, but to stutterers
it's a big help to their stuttering in which
interupting another person who is talking
helps the stutter get their words out....
I also have come to a conclusion..it's the
speecheasy DAF effect ..
You know how stutterers are fluent if they start
talking along side another person.....???
Well a person who stutters on their very first word
needs that 2nd voice to start talking before the
stutterer starts talking to get the first word out fluently...
So it's that interupting another person
that helps us stutterers get our words out....
In other words-- it's the choral effect---
If we can hear another person speaking before we actualy start to speak, and talk to THEM as soon
as they start talking we will not stutter!!!!
It's rude to interupt-- but for stutterers to
interupt another person to help them speak
easier should not be seen as rude... but if it helps
the stutterer to speak right if they interupt one.. I
say go for it....
The non-stutter who thinks the stutterer is
interupting them does not understand
that what is actualy rude is very helpfull...
MY point:: DAF..., a stutterer does not stutter if
they speak with another person....
That second person who starts talking is
what helps us stutters speak right by talking
along with their voice........it's the choral speech
effect-- the same thing what the speecheasy does...
And when i start stuttering, I cannot stand
having the feeling that someone his waiting
for me to spit out words that i am just unable
to spit out!!
I feel like I need them to interupt me to help me get my words out!!!!!!!

Let's keep these posts coming!! I've been tryiing to figure out this "interupting others to be fluent"
theory for years...again--it's the delayed auditory feedback...that person who is speaking acts as the second voice, for the stutterer to interupt
so he can sound fluent....
Interupting may be ordinarily rude, but
for stuttering people it can be a great help
because it's that speecheasy choral effect...
I know I already posted the above,
but I'm just trying to find a way
to explain it easier, which is not easy...

I interrupt on my good days and can be quite annoying to others. If I realize I'm doing it, I try to stop myself but it can become a subconscious thing.

It's as if we're able to talk. as long as the attention is not on us ?
